Manalapan Obituary: Peter Rogina, 74

Rogina was a former member of the Yorktowne Club.

Peter R. Rogina, 74, of Manalapan, died on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan. Born and raised in Greenwich Village, NYC, he has resided in Manalapan since 1967. He was a communicant of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Marlboro. Rogina was a teacher and social worker for the Jersey City School System in Jersey City for 43 years before retiring, and, among other things, was a former member of the Yorktowne Social Club in Manalapan where he was once honored as Person of the Year.

He was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Rinaldo Rogina. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lorraine; his children and their spouses, Peter and Kirsten, Elaine and Michael Ferrara, and Susan and Michael Krantz; his brother, Paul; six grandchildren, Alexandra, Jake, Corinne, Zachary, Griffin and Teo; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday and Sunday, from 2 to 6 p.m., at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday at 11:45 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Historic Church, Marlboro. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
