Obituary: Charles H. Dery, 80

Dery lived in Manalapan for 47 years.

Charles H. Dery, 80, of Manalapan, died on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he has resided in Manalapan for the past 47 years.

He was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran and a communicant of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Manalapan. Charles was a truck driver until retiring and then worked part time at Raceway Park until 2007.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Kathleen, in 2006; and a granddaughter, Erin Dery. He is survived by his six children and their spouses, Margie (Bruce) Allen of Lake Como, Elizabeth Dery of Manalapan, Charles Jr. (Donna) of Manalapan, William (Marianne) of Manalapan, Thomas (Michelle) of East Brunswick, and John (Tracy) of Manasquan; and 11 grandchildren.

Family and friends visited from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23 at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Funeral Liturgy was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at St. Thomas More Church, Manalapan. The interment was private.
