Obituary: Joseph V. Delfino, 81

Delfino was a member of Manalapan's Knights of Columbus.

Joseph V. Delfino of Manalapan, formerly of Arden Heights in Staten Island, died on October 13, 2012 in Manor Care Center, Freehold, N.J., of lung cancer.

Delfino was a retired bus operator and devoted family man. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he moved to Arden Heights in 1972 and relocated to New Jersey in 2001.

Delfino served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. He also served in the National Guard.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Manalapan Chapter.

Delfino was happiest when he was with his family and doted on his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He also enjoyed making rosaries and taking trips to Atlantic City.

His wife of 60 years, the former Sylvia Favale, died in 2001. He also was preceded in death by his daughter, Victoria Delfino, in 1999.

Surviving are his son, Joseph; his daughter, Deborah D'Ambrose; his sister, Lucy Straub; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at Matthew Funeral Home Inc. located at 2508 Victory Boulevard at Willowbrook Road in Staten Island, on Wednesday 11 a.m.

The Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Child Church at noon. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday 9 to 11 A.M.
