Obituary: Normarie Bray, 89

Bray served as a church usher for over 50 years.

Normarie Bray, 89, of Manalapan, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at home. Mrs. Bray was born in Tuskegee, Ala. Mrs. Bray was a member of the New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, Freehold. She had joined the former Second Baptist Church when she was 18 years of age and served the church as an usher for over 50 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a devoted homemaker for her family, an accomplished cook, and avid gardener.

Her husband, William Bray, died in 2000. Surviving are two sons, Harry Bray and his wife, Leah, Jackson, and Palmer Bray, Manalapan; a daughter, Sharon Ann "Shirley" Thomas, at home; a brother, Eddy Pearson, Manalapan; a sister, Lelia Davis, Jackson; six grandchildren, Courtney Bray and his wife Nyree, Raymond Hardaway, Amanda Thomas, Harry Bray Jr., Alonza William Bray, and Ryan Hardaway; and two great-grandchildren, India Bray and Malachi Green.

The viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at the New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, 133 Throckmorton St., Freehold. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at the church, followed by interment at , Tennent. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, is in charge of arrangements.
