Pine Brook Nursing Home Resident Dies at 83

Services for Helene Susswein took place on Monday at Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapel in Manalapan.

Helene C. Susswein (nee Dunner), 83 of Eatontown died on Sunday, Oct. 27, at Pine Brook Nursing Home in Manalapan surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in New York City, she lived in Highland Park, for many years before moving to West End, and then to Eatontown, ten years ago.

Helene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Family meant everything to her. Helene attended New York University. She worked for Revlon Corp in NYC prior to marriage. After settling in Highland Park Helene spent many years volunteering weekly at Middlesex General Hospital in New Brunswick, now Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. She was an active member of the Highland Park Conservative Temple Sisterhood and a life member of Hadassah. Helene also helped out in the family business, Capitol Decorators, Highland Park, and later in East Brunswick.

Helene was predeceased by her husband, Marvin A. Susswein and her sister Ruth Schulman of New York City. She is survived by her children: Lynn Susswein and her partner Kimberly Raub and Barbara Kaplan and her husband Elliot; her sister Honey Kraemer, Philadelphia, PA and her loving Grandson Marc along with an extended family who loved and admired her.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapel, 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan. The family would appreciate any donations made to the American Heart Association .
