3 People Charged with Shoplifiting from Wegmans

A Jackson woman and a Monroe couple were charged with shoplifting for allegedly taking items from Wegmans without paying for it.

The Manalapan Police Department has reported two incidents of shoplifting at Wegmans within one week in March.

John Castagna, 47, and Marilyn Russell, 49, both of Monroe Township, were arrested and charged with shoplifting on March 24. Castagna and Russell reportedly left Wegman's with groceries valued at $121.98 without paying. Both of the subjects were arrested, charged, released on a summons, and provided with a court date at Manalapan Township Municipal Court.

Jackson resident Margaret Chan, 41, was also arrested for allegedly shoplifting items from Wegmans. Ptl. Anthony Cascella responded to the supermarket on March 18 after Chan was seen removing items from the store without paying; the items were valued at $484.30, according to police.

A Wegmans loss prevention officer observed Chan removing the items and leaving the store without paying. The officer intercepted Chan in the parking lot. Chan was arrested, charged with shoplifting, and released pending a court date.
