UPDATE: Ban on Driving in Manalapan Township Lifted

Due to the high volume of downed power lines and flooding the police mandated people to stay off the roads this morning.

UPDATE: As of 1 p.m. on Aug. 28, the Manalapan Township has lifted the driving ban, although county officials urge residents to stay off the roads. 

The Office of Emergency Management of Manalapan Township has mandated a ban on driving until further notice due to downed power lines and trees on the streets and flooding within the township.

The driving ban is mandatory, and until further notice. Only emergency personnel workers are allowed to drive on the roads.

According to JCP&L as of 1 p.m., an estimated 5,189 customers are without power in Englishtown and about 125 have lost power in Manalapan Township - this number has significantly decreased from the 1,050 township residents without power early this morning.  

All non-emergency calls should continue to be made to the Manalapan Township Police Department at: 732-446-4300; if there is an emergency please dial 9-1-1.
