11 Burglaries in Manalapan within 2 Weeks, Police Report

Burglaries and thefts are on the rise, police say, so please lock your doors and keep valuables out of sight.

The are reporting that both residential and vehicle burglaries are climbing, Capt. Chris Marsala said. The department is advising residents of Manalapan to lock their homes and cars, turn on all alarms, and keep valuables away from view.

The department is further asking residents to follow general crime prevential rules such as: using motion sensing lights, keeping shrubs trimed around doors and windows, and looking for suspicious people and cars in your neighborhood.

Immediately contact the Manalapan Police Department at 732-446-4300 if any suspicious activity is observed.

Within the past two weeks, 11 breaking and entering incidents 1 attempted burglary have been reported in the township:

  • Ptl. Jean Letts responded to the blue building at Englishtown Auction Sales for a burglary that happened sometime between March 18 and March 24. About 300 knives and several airsoft guns were stolen from the ANB Sports vendor. Entry was gained cutting the padlock. Detective Charles Alaimo is handing the investigation. 
  • A storage unit in Manalapan was burglarized by the alleged ex-girlfriend of the unit's owner, a 30 year-old Monroe resident. $2,810 worth of valuales were stolen sometime between Feb. 25 and March 22.
  • A Jared Lane home was reportedly burglarized on March 22 where a small grey plastic bird valued at $125 was stolen from the front yard. Ptl. Richard Gallo responded.
  •  A Manalapan resident reported that an acquaintance of hers stole cash and jewelry from her home on March 9, but the victim did not want to file and criminal complaints.
  • A Grayson Lane home was reportedly ransacked overnight between March 18 and March 19. The homeowner discovered the mess early in the morning on March 19 and police responded. Patrolmen discovered that entry into the home was gained by prying open a first floor window.
  • Both a wedding and engagement ring valued at $5,500 were stolen from a Connor Drive home on March 18, police say. The victim reportedly left her rings next to the kitchen sink and sometime between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. they were taken.
  • There as an attempted burglary on a home located on Sanford Street on March 15. A juvenile was home at the time an unknown person knocked on the basement window and then subsequently broke it in order to gain entry. No entry was made, however, as the person fled the scene prior to patrol cars arriving. The Monmouth County Sherrif Office K9 unit assisted in the investigation. 
  • Sometime between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. on March 14, several individuals forced entry into an unoccupied home on Rowena Drive. An unknown amount of jewelry and other items were taken.
  • An Apache Drive home was burglarized sometime between 8:20 p.m. and 9 p.m. on March 14. Entry was gained via rear window which was locked. All of the upstairs bedrooms were ransacked and jewelry was stolen from the home.
  • During the overnight hours between March 13 and March 14, an Alexandria Drive home was looted while the resident was away. At the time the report was made, the resident was unsure of exactly what was stolen.
  • A perpetrator gained entry to an Alexandria Drive home sometime between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. Kitchen drawers were rooted through, but nothing was taken from the residence. Police believe that the suspect was startled by the resident and left.
  • A York air conditioner and copper tubing valued at $1500 was stolen from behind a building at 320 Rt. 33 West between 2:30 p.m. on March 13 and 9:30 p.m. on March 14. A similar incident was reported at the same location on March 8.

All incidents are still being investigated by the Manalapan Police Department.
