Englishtown Police Cars Get Makeover

The patrol cars for the Englishtown Police Department have received a sophisticated, new makeover - going from a drab white to a shiny black.

The department received a new patrol car and SUV at the end of last year that were black and white with a striped pattern. Since the four other patrol cars were older and had peeling paint, Lt. Peter Cooke decided to have the older vehicles painted to match the new vehicles. Now, the entire fleet of Englishtown police vehicles are black and white with blue and yellow stripes along the sides.

Cooke had asked for a police SUV vehicle after a bad snow storm caused policemen to respond to calls while riding with the snow plowers since none of the patrol cars were able to drive in the high snow accumulation several years ago.

This was unacceptable, according to Cooke, seeing as if any arrests had to be made there was no place to put the suspect in the snow plow vehicle. Englishtown budgeted for an SUV and received one in December 2012 along with a new cruiser.
