Englishtown Police Charge Man with Providing Fake Name, Drug Possession

The man also had a warrant out of Middletown for failing to appear in court.

A Brick man was arrested in Englishtown on Wednesday after being found to be in possession of drugs, providing a false name, and having a warrant out for his arrest from Middletown Township.

Alexis Claudio, 28, provided Englishtown police with a false identity after the garbage truck he worked on struck another vehicle while making a turn onto North Gate Drive at the intersection of Bailey Court on Wednesday, March 20. The truck was making a wide turn and inadvertently traveled into the wrong lane, striking a car on the front side.

An investigation conducted by Corporal Michael MacInnes revealed Claudio’s true identity and that there was a $1,000 warrant out of Middletown for his arrest because he failed to appear at his court date for driving while suspended. Claudio was the passenger in the garbage truck at the time of the accident.

Claudio was also found to be in possession of marijuana, a small bag of molly, a scale, and $1,800, which was confiscated by police, Lt. Peter Cooke of the Englishtown Police Department said.

The woman driver of the car hit her nose on her steering wheel. She was examined by Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid, but did not need to go to the hospital. The driver of the garbage truck was charged with careless driving and driving on the other side of the road. His company sent him for a mandatory drug test, but he did not appear to be under the influence at the time of the accident, according to Cooke.

Claudio was charged with two counts of possession of a dangerous substance, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and one count of providing a false identity. He posted the $1,000 bail and has been released pending court.
