Freehold Woman Charged with DWI After Hitting NJ Transit Bus

The woman struck the bus while it was loading and unloading passengers on the shoulder of Route 9 South in Manalapan.

A Freehold woman was arrested after she crashed into the rear of a New Jersey Transit bus while it was loading and unloading passengers on the shoulder of Route 9 in Manalapan Township. 

Police responded to the scene of the accident, which took place at around 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 near Towne Pointe Shopping Center on Route 9 South. The officer’s cared for the driver of the car and directed traffic around the incident. No bus passengers were injured, according to police. 

The driver, identified as Dawnmarie Sims, 45, of Freehold, refused medical attention. She was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, and driving while suspended. She also had an outstanding warrant out of Manalapan for $750 and an outstanding warrant out of Freehold for $500.
