Home Burglary and Attempted Burglary Take Place During Day

A residential burglary and attempted residential burglary took place during the day.

The Manalapan Police Department have reported one home burglary and one attempted burglary in Manalapan.

A 73-year-old Manalapan woman told police that her Steward Lane home was burglarized during the day on Wednesday, April 10.

The woman told police that she left at 9:45 a.m. and returned home at 12:30 p.m. When she arrived home she saw that her bedroom light was on and her dresser drawers were open, according to police.

Jewelry and $350 in cash were stolen from the woman’s bedroom. There were no signs of entry into the home, police said.

Ptl. Philip Accatatta responded to a Sherwood Road home on Monday, April 9 for the report of an attempted burglary. The homeowner, a 59-year-old man, told Accatatta that when he returned home he found that the gate to his rear yard had been opened. He also noticed that there were fresh pry marks on the rear doors of his home.

The man told police that he had left his home at 8:25 a.m. and returned home at 3 p.m. Nothing was reported stoeln as entry to the residence was not made. The victim told police that he thinks his dog had scared away the attempted burglar.
