Lexus Collides with Garbage Truck; Construction Worker Medevacked for Injury

The two incidents were separate, but happened chronologically.

On Thursday, Sept. 29 a black Lexus sedan collided with a Waste Management garbage truck in front of the Olde Silver Tavern on Freehold Road; the incident was called in at 1:04 p.m., Capt. Chris Marsala of the Manalapan Police Department confirmed.

The police department along with the Englishtown Fire Department and the Manalapan Fire Department responded to the scene of the accident. No injuries occurred. The driver of the Lexus was issued a ticket for improper passing.

Due to the collision, the Waste Management truck was leaking diesel fuel down the road, which the Englishtown Fire Department was able to maintain. Private clean-up crews from Waste Management responded to the scene and cleaned up the leaked fuel along with the help of the Monmouth County Haz-mat Team.

As the fire departments were preparing to leave the scene of the collision, they were dispatched to the Four Seasons Development to aid a construction worker who had fallen while framing a home; the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid was dispatched, as well.

The Manalapan Fire Department helped lower the victim, while the Englistown Fire Department arranged for a landing zone for the South Star medevac helicopter in front of the development. The helicopter was able to land and transport the victim to a trauma center.
