Man Charged with Shoplifting from Manalapan Wegmans, Providing False Information

The man had an active criminal warrant out of Monmouth County.

Manalapan police arrested Robert Doren, of Keyport, for allegedly shoplifting various merchandise from Wegmans supermarket on Sunday, Feb. 10.

According to a Manalapan Township Police Department report, Doren, 57, left Wegmans with a shopping cart full of unpaid merchandise valued at $267.75. He also reportedly attempted to load the merchandise into a waiting vehicle.

When approached by police, he said his name was “Richard” instead of Robert, knowing that he had an active criminal warrant and was a wanted person out of Monmouth County.

Doren was charged with shoplifting and providing false information to police. He is currently remanded in Monmouth County Correctional Institute for being in default of his $5,000 bail. His initial appearance in front of Judge James M. Newman is scheduled for Feb. 23.
