Asaf Mohammad, the 26-year old man who had to be extricated from a 20" water pipe in Manalapan, has been indicted by a Superior Court jury on charges of fourth degree criminal trespass.

An indictment is merely a formal charge, not a conviction. The case will proceed to court.

On Jan. 17, Mohammad is charged with "remaining surreptitiously in a water treatment facility" owned by United Water Matchaponix. Police said at the time he was a resident of Emily Drive.

If found guilty of a crime of the fourth degree, a defendant can potentially serve a jail sentence of up to 18 months.
