Man Indicted on Charges of Attempting to Obtain Oxycodone with Forged Prescription

The man attempted to get oxycodone from a Walgreens pharmacy in Manalapan.

Robert Shabunia, a resident of Old Bridge, was indicted by the Monmouth County Grand Jury last week for trying to obtain oxycodone from a Walgreens pharmacy in with a forged prescription.

Shabunia, 29, allegedly presented the forged prescription to the pharmacy on August 21, 2011. Shabunia has been indicted on charges of uttering a forged instrument and attempted obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud. Both are third degree crimes.

Regardless of the charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and state law.
