Manalapan Man Allegedly Kicks Police Officer in the Face

The man was allegedly intoxicated during the assault.

arrested a man on April 18 for allegedly being drunk in public and assaulting a police officer. Christopher Clare, 41, of Manalapan, was allegedly intoxicated at the , located at the intersection of Rt. 33 and Woodward Rd.

Ptl. Kevin Ruditsky responded to the business and soon discovered that the man was intoxicated and could not speak English, police said. Clare also was observed to have minor injuries which were sustained froma previous fall from riding his bicycle, according to the police report.

Ruditsky drove Clare home, but no contact was made with any family members so the first aid squad was requested to transport Clare to the hospital for a medical and psychological evaluation.

According to police, while Clare was being transported to the hospital he became aggressive and violent towards police officers and the EMS personnel. While Ruditsky was attempting to restrian Clare he was kicked in the face causing minor injury to the officer.

Clare was placed under arrest and then transported to CentraState Medical Center in the back of a police vehicle. He allegedly continued to be violent towards the hospital staff.

Clare has been charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. His case is pending court.
