Manalapan Man Charged With Assaulting Police Officer

A Daum Road resident pushed a police officer while he was serving him an arrest warrant, police said.

A Manalapan police officer was assaulted during the delivery of an arrest warrant on May 31, police said.

According to police, four Manalapan police officers responded to Daum Road to serve outstanding warrants to resident Steven Dubois. Dubois, 41, was located in his home and, during the service of the warrant, assaulted Patrolman Dan Carey. Police said Dubois used two hands to push Carey in the chest and into a wall.

Dubois then tried to run away from the officers and resisted being handcuffed by making his arms stiff, hiding them under his body, and not putting them behind his back when he was instructed to do so, the arrest report stated.

Dubois was ultimately arrested and charged with aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. He was transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institute in default of $6,500 bail.

Carol Dubois, 60, was also arrested by police and charged with hindering apprehension of Steven. She was released on a summons pending court, police said.
