Manalapan Man Indicted on Drug Possession and Resisting Arrest

The Manalapan resident was allegedly engaging in a hand-to-hand drug deal in Englishtown.

Manalapan resident John Modica, 24, was indicted by the Monmouth Grand Jury for being in possession of various drugs, including the narcotics heroin and oxycodone, and alphrazolam, the generic form of Xanax, and resisting arrest on May 5 in Englishtown.

According to an arrest warrant issued by Manalapan Police, Modica was charged with possession of 10 wax folds of heroin, possession of Xanax, possession of Suboxone, resisting arrest, and littering.

Modica was engaging in a hand-to-hand drug deal with Englishtown resident Nicholas Scarano on Tennent Avenue, according to the Englishtown Police Department.

Modica resisted arrest by fleeing on foot from Corporal Michael MacInnes onto Main Street, but was later restrained and arrested.

Modica was indicted on three counts of possession of a dangerous substance and one count of resisting arrest; all are third degree crimes.
