Manalapan Man Accused of Fraudulently Obtaining Xanax

The man allegedly submitted a forged prescription at a Marlboro pharmacy.

Manalapan resident Scott Truax, 25, was indicted by the Monmouth County Grand Jury for fraudulently obtaining Xanax from a Marlboro pharmacy, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

On June 29, Truax attempted to retrieve alprazolam from Union Hill Pharmacy in Marlboro Township. According to the indictment, Truax provided a forged New Jersey prescription to the pharmacist, but was not provided with the drug.

Alprazolam is the generic form of Xanax, a benzodiazepine drug used to treat anxiety and panic disorders. It is classified as a schedule IV controlled substance by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Truax was indicted on attempting to obtain a controlled dangerous substance by fraud, uttering a forged instrument, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. All are third degree crimes.
