Matawan Woman Allegedly Burglarizes Car in Manalapan

A Matawan woman was arrested for reportedly stealing loose change and a GPS device from an unlocked parked car off of Rt. 9.

Derya M. Darkanat, 20, of Matawan, was arrested by Manalapan Police and charged with burglary, theft by unlawful taking, theft of movable property and conspiracy on June 8 for allegedly removing items from a motor vehicle with the help of another individual.

According to an arrest warrant issued by the , Darkanat entered an unlocked 2007 Hyundai, which was parked at 340 Rt. 9 North in Manalapan, with the purpose to commit a theft.

The car is registered to a Diane Madonna, police said. Loose change and a Nextar GPS device, belonging to Madonna, were removed from the car.

Darkanat allegedly conspired with Anthony Disantis who agreed to aid Darkanat in the perpetration of the theft, the arrest warrant said.

Darkanat was remanded in Monmouth County Correctional Institute in Freehold Borough in default of her $25,000 bail.
