Morganville Man Convicted in Child Pornography Bust

Local residents Jason Faccibene of Morganville, Layne Bracht of Matawan and Jonathan Burke of Keyport were among 30 New Jersey residents convicted in a national child pornography bust.

An investigation into a child pornography website, which lead to the conviction of more than 500 American subscribers, included Morganville, Matawan and Keyport residents.

In what the U.S. Attorney General is calling the most successful child pornography bust in American history, local residents Jason Faccibene of Morganville, Layne Bracht of Matawan and Jonathan Burke of Keyport were among 30 New Jersey residents convicted over almost a decade of investigation.

According to the U.S. Attorney General's news release, the "hardcore child pornography" website was run by a Ukrainian citizen, Maksym Shynkarenko. The site included images of children being sexually assaulted and abused.

Faccibene was sentenced to to 34 months in prison, Bracht and Burke 30 and 33 months respectively. 

The leader of the site was arrested and extradited to in January, 2009. Shynkarenko is now facing trial in the American court system.

"The convicted subscribers to the “Illegal.CP” website include dozens of previously convicted sex offenders and the investigation has led to the discovery of numerous others who were actively molesting children," according to the news release.

If convicted, Shynkarenko faces up to 20 years in prison on each count of the transporation and shipment of child pornography, as well as related fines.
