Motor Vehicle Stop Near Craig Road Leads to Drug Charge For Linden Men

Manalapan Police charged the driver with a suspended license and fake plates.

On a recent Tuesday morning, police stopped a car  for a motor vehicle violation -- and wound up making an arrest for heroin possession and multiple driving violations. 

Around 8 a.m. on April 8, Ptl. Kyle Earley pulled over a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville at Route 9 near Craig Road. Police said that a check of identification revealed that the driver, Alan Fratello Sr, 62, of Linden, was operating the car with a suspended driver’s license and a fraudulent registration plate. 

Police said his passenger, who is also his son Alan Fratello Jr, 42, of Linden, was in possession of heroin, drug paraphernalia and a syringe.  He was  arrested processed and charged, and taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution for outstanding warrants totaling $3,550 out of multiple jurisdictions within New Jersey, and $6,000 bail for his charges within Manalapan Twp.

Fratello, Sr. was arrested, processed, issued multiple motor vehicle summons and released after posting bail.  Police said he also had a criminal warrant from Carlstadt, NJ, totaling $2,107.

Both men were given a court date in Manalapan.
