Multiple Pedestrians Struck on Rt. 9 in Marlboro, 1 Dead

A man and woman were struck on Rt. 9 Thursday night, police have now confirmed the man's death.

Updated as of Friday at 11:24 a.m. 

Two pedestrians were struck on Rt. 9 in Marlboro Township Thursday night, and Marlboro police have now confirmed one man is dead.

Police Captain Steve Mennona said a male victim was pronounced dead at the hospital at 11:43 p.m. Thursday night.

The female pedestrian is in critical condition as of Friday morning. The two were truck by a van on Rt. 9 south near the Marlboro Motor Lodge.

Information about the identity of the victims has not been released.

The van was traveling southbound, the driver did sustain injuries and was transfered by ground to the hospital.

Mennona said witnesses of the accident administered emergency services in the roadway before ambulances arrived. 

Police did temporarily shut down the roadway Wednesday night around 10:45 p.m. Mennona said the identity of the victims has not yet been released.

Police opened Rt. 9 south around 2 a.m.
