UPDATE: Pedestrian Struck by Car was 12-Year-Old Manalapan Boy

The boy was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center; medical personnel said his injuries were not serious.

A 12-year-old Manalapan boy was struck by a car in the area of 403 Main Street  in Manalapan Township at around 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27.

According to Capt. Michael Fountain of the Manalapan Police Department, arriving officers saw the boy in the roadway injured. He was treated at the scene by Englishtown-Manalapan First aid and paramedics and was transported by ground to Jersey Shore Medical Center.

Initially, a medevac helicopter was called to the scene to transport the victim, but it was later cancelled because medical personnel decided that the injuries were not serious.

Currently, it is unknown whether the boy was crossing the street or walking along side of Main Street when he was struck by the motor vehicle. The Manalapan Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
