Slew of Attempted Burglaries and Residential Thefts Recently

Police have reported information on a number of attempted home burglaries and thefts.

There have been a high number of attempted burglaries and thefts in Manalapan Township within the past two weeks, the has reported.

Attempted Burglaries

  • Two white males attempted to burglarize a Rifkin Ct. home on May 26 at around 10:30 p.m. by breaking the window of a rear door. The breaking of the window caused the house alarm to sound and the suspects fled in a light colored motor vehicle, police said. The 46-year-old man who owns the home was not within the house during the attempt.
  • Two detectives and a patrolman responded to a Pinebrook Rd. home at 4:30 p.m. on May 24 for a report of an attempted burglary. Police investigated and discovered that an individual attempted to get inside of the home by prying open the home's backdoor, but was unsuccessful and left before the 37-year-old homeowner returned home. 
  • Ptl. Michael Hoppock arrived to a Colony Lane home for a report of a burglary on May 22 at 3:34 p.m. Police said that the 32-year-old homeowner arrived home to find her front door open. She told police that no items were missing, but a bathroom near the front door was disheveled.

Burglaries and Thefts

  • A 46-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man who both live in a Manalapan home reported a theft from their residence on May 23. Police said that the woman's completed tax return docuemnts and the man's passport were stolen sometime between May 4 and May 18.
  • A 51-year-old Manalapan man told police that 11 pieces of equipment and tools were removed from the unlocked garage of his Sweetmans Lane home on May 22. Police said that they determined an unknown individual entered the garage between May 7 and May 19. The value of the equipment and tools is $3,445. 
  • On May 21, police responded to a Lauren Ct. residence for a a reported stolen vehicle. When Ptl. Steve Turner arrived at the home, the car had been returned with a quarter tank of gas missing from the car. The homeowner also reported that someone had entered the home and removed $300 from a purse located in the kitchen. Nothing else was removed from the home. Upon investigation, police discovered that the intruders entered the home through a partially opened garage door.
  • Manalapan police repsonded to Mezza Luna Restaurant, located within the Town Pointe Shopping Center, on May 25 for the report of a theft shortly after 8:30 p.m. The restaurant ownerd told police that a former employee stole $2800 from the register in February before disappearing to Mexico the next day and that the suspect may have returned to the area.  

 

All cases are currently still being investigated by police.
