Police: Driver Who Struck Pedestrian Had Marijuana in Car
Marijuana was found in the car of the driver who struck a Manalapan woman crossing Route 9 on Friday.
Luke Palumbo, the driver of the, has been charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, according to Manalapan Police Captain Michael Fountain.
Tsuik, a Manalapan resident, was hit by Palumbo's vehicle at around 7:30 a.m. on Friday at the intersection of Route 9 North and Ryan Road. Tsuik was medevaced to Jersey Shore Medical Center to be treated for her injuries. Police discovered her lying on the shoulder of Route 9 North.
Along with being charged with a failure to yield to a pedestrian, Palumbo, 19, was also charged with possesion of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possesion of a marijuana in a motor vehicle.

Palumbo has not been charged with being under the influence while operating a motor vehicle at this time as lab results are still pending, according to Fountain.

Fountain said Palumbo was charged and released on his own recognizance pending a Municipal Court appearance on all of the charges.
