Monmouth County grand jurors indicted Englishtown resident Nicolas Scarano on heroin possession and distribution charges stemming from an April arrest, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
According to the indictment, Scarano, 31, sold heroin to an undercover detective from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office in the Borough on April 9 and again on April 12. He was indicted on two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, and two counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance.
Scarano was just recently indicted in Monmouth County on alleged heroin possession charges stemming from a July 19 arrest out of Englishtown. According to Englishtown police, Scarano was found to be in possession of 47 wax folds of heroin at the time of the arrest. He was also previously arrested in May 2012 for allegedly making a hand to hand heroin deal in Englishtown.
An indictment is not evidence of guilt; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
