Woman Charged with Shoplifting, Drug Possession

Police say a woman concealed items in her purse, where drugs were also found.

After a Wegmans loss prevention officer apprehended a woman for allegedly stealing merchandise, police said they found heroin, drug paraphernalia, and hypodermic syringes in her purse.

Manalapan police responded to the supermarket on the afternoon of May 19 after receiving a report that a shoplifter was custody. During a search of the woman, Kristin Kietzman, 32, of Howell, police allegedly found $80.46 worth of Wegmans merchandise, heroin, drug paraphernalia and hypodermic syringes in her purse, police said.

A man who was with Kietzman at the time, Jesse Jenkins, 47, of Englishtown, was also taken into custody for outstanding warrants and after he was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

According to police, Jenkins had a $7,500 warrant from Trenton Municipal Court, a $1,131 warrant from Millstone Township Municipal Court, a $750 warrant from Lakewood Township Court, a $350 warrant from Toms River Court and a $350 warrant from Hamilton Township Court.

Kietzman and Jenkins were arrested and transported to the Manalapan Police Department. Kietzman was charged with shoplifting, possession of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released and is scheduled to appear in Manalapan court.

Jenkins was not able to post bail and was transported by New Jersey State Police to Monmouth County Correctional Institute. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by Manalapan police and is scheduled to appear in court.
