Police: Rumor of Pretend Shooting False, Boys Playing Game

Several older boys were playing a game of Airsoft near Lafayette Mills School which prompted a rumor that they were pretending to shoot elementary school students.

Manalapan Police Captain Michael Fountain has confirmed that a reported rumor about several boys wearing masks and pretending to shoot elementary school students through a classroom window is definitively not true.

Fountain said the there were a few boys playing Airsoft in the athletic fields near Lafayette Mills School on Friday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m., after school had been let out.

Airsoft is game involving replica firearms, or Airsoft guns, which shoot spherical pellets that are not made of metal.

Police reprimanded the boys and spoke with their parents, according to Fountain.
