POLL: Brookdale CC Drops Ice Theft Charge Against Student

The community college has dropped theft charges against a freshman student who allegedly stole a cup of ice from their cafeteria.

The 18-year-old was issued a summons in late January when he filled a cup with ice after he had paid for his food, according to Press stories.

While a downgraded version of the incident citing "interference with a school employee" will still appear on Calero's school record, the APP report said, Calero's attorney, William Bajohr, verified that he will not be appearing in Middletown Municipal Court on Monday as previously scheduled.

Brookdale administration and the police department agreed to drop the charges against Calero at a school disciplinary hearing, according to the APP.
