Man Accused of Selling Pot to Undercover Detective--Twice

A Manalapan man was indicted on drug possession and distribution charges for allegedly selling marijuana to an undercover detective twice this year.

Robert Pitts, 21, of Beagle Drive in Manalapan, was indicted by a Monmouth County Grand Jury on Thursday, Dec. 1 on charges of drug possession and distribution.

According to an indictment released by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Pitts allegedly sold marijuana to an undercover detective from the prosecutor’s office on March 29 in Manalapan Township, and again to an undercover detective on April 6 in Freehold Township. 

Pitts was indicted on two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and two counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance. All are fourth-degree crimes.

Regardless of the charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and state law.
