UPDATE: Incident at Freehold Raceway Mall Parking Lot Was Not Robbery

What was reported as a robbery was actually a misunderstanding between family members.

UPDATE: Sgt. Piccolini of the Freehold Township Police Department confirmed that the incident at the parking lot of the Freehold Raceway Mall on Thursday, July 28 at approximately 1:50 p.m. was not a robbery, as was previously reported.

An MOCIB (Monmouth and Ocean County Intelligence Bureau) was issued for a heavy set man driving a 1997 green Isuzu headed towards Trotters Way after the incident was reported to the police. Upon further investigation, the police department realized no theft had taken place.

"It was largely a misunderstanding between how somebody saw what they thought they saw and what actually happened. It was not as it was advertised," Piccolini said.

The incident involved a dispute among family members and a misunderstanding, according to Piccolini. Since the occurrence involves domestic violence, no more information could be revealed.
