UPDATE: Manalapan HS Lockdown Lifted

Manalapan police are investigating the incident.

UPDATE, Wednesday, March 13 1:15 p.m.: The Stay in Place lockdown at Manalapan High School has been lifted, according to a message on the Freehold Regional High School District website sent out by District Communications and District Projects Coordinator Nakell Williams. The message indicated that the Manalapan Police Department has deemed the school campus secure.

Despite rumors and tweets about a student in the ceiling of the high school, Williams has confirmed that no student was ever in the ceiling and that the student who made the threatening tweet was immediately detained by administration and turned over to Manalapan Police.

Manalapan High School is currently on lock down because a sophomore student made a threatening "tweet" over Twitter about possibly using a gun, according to Freehold Regional High School District Communications and District Projects Coordinator Nakell Williams.

Manalapan administration were alerted to the incident and immediately placed the school in lockdown and detained the student. The student explained that the threatening tweet was a joke, Williams said.

Currently, the Manalapan Police Department are conducting an investigation at the high school and the lock down is still in place.

Principal Adam Angelozzi sent out a robocall to all Manalapan High School parents alerting them of the incident and describing the tweet as "an unsubstantiated threat".

Angelozzi went on to say that the none of the students safety was compromised, a local parent informed Patch.

Various Manalapan High School students on Twitter are tweeting that a student is hiding in the ceiling of the high school. Twitter user Erica Nicole (@eduubbss_) tweeted a picture of police walking on the roof of the high school
