Truck Driver Killed in Accident at Exit 8A of Turnpike

A truck driver was killed this afternoon at Exit 8A when his tractor-trailer overturned and struck the guardrail.

A male truck driver was killed this afternoon after his tractor-trailer overturned at Exit 8A of the New Jersey Turnpike.

According to the New Jersey State Police, at approximately 11:30 a.m. the tractor-trailer, which was carrying recycled paper, was entering the turnpike when the vehicle overturned and struck the guardrail of the ramp for the northbound lanes. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The road was still being cleaned up as of 1 p.m. but there are no traffic delays reported. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the NJSP. Police are withholding any information about the driver pending notification of the victim's family.
