Two Residents Arrested and Charged with Theft of Newport Drive Home

Over $22,000 in jewelry was stolen from a Manalapan home, two suspects are in custody

Max Borruso, 19, and Monica Shrayfel, 18, have been arrested by the and are being charged with the theft of jewelry valued in excess of $22,000 from a Newport Drive home.

Borruso and Shrayfel, both residents of Manalapan, allegedly stole the jewelry from the bedroom of the residence on Friday, Nov. 11. A rear window was discovered to be pried open and the inside of the home was ransacked, police reported.

Borruso is also being charged with allegedly selling approximately $5,000 worth of the victim’s jewelry at Fine Jewelry Inc. on Nov. 12.

Borruso’s bail amount is set at $30,000 and Shrayfel’s bail is set at $5,000. Their initial appearance in court is set for Nov. 28 at 9 a.m.

Regardless of the charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and state law.
