219 Additional Commuter Parking Spaces Available in Manalapan

If you’re on the waiting list for commuter parking, you’ll be happy to hear that the list will be getting shorter, as additional commuter parking spots have been made available within Manalapan.

The Manalapan Township Committee passed a resolution last week adding 219 more commuter parking spaces to the Township. Of the 219 spaces, 85 will be located off of Craig Road behind The Manalapan Shopping Center, which houses such stores as Bed Bath and Beyond and Babies “R” Us. These spots will exclusively be for Manalapan residents with yearly permits.

The remaining 134 spaces will be located in the front portion of The Manalapan Shopping Center, which is located at 15 Route 9 South. These spots will also be for permit holders. However, there will also be daily spots open for those who do not have permits.

“Commuter parking has long been an issue in Manalapan Township,” Committeeman Ryan Green, the Director of Transportation liaison to the Township Committee, said. “This is certainly good news for Manalapan Township commuters and those who have been waiting patiently on the waiting list.”

Additionally, the Committee is currently talking with the Freehold Township municipal government about a possible shared services agreement to add spaces to a lot off of Schibanoff Lane. These spots may an option for the residents that live in the southern portion of Manalapan.

Letters of interest have been sent out to people on the waiting list to gauge how many people might be interested in these spaces.
