APP.com Reports DEP is Investigating Illegal Filing of Mayor Lucas' Farm

Lucas was unaware of any possible violations.

The Asbury Park Press is reporting that New Jersey's Department of Environmental Protection is investigating the land the Lucas family purchased in attempt to preserve 5,000 square feet of wetlands, according to a department spokesperson.

Approximately $1.15 million was paid to Manalapan Township Mayor Lucas to purchase the property by the Township Committee and the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, according to APP.com.

The Agriculture Development Board of Monmouth County will look over the application on June 1. If approved, the State Agriculture Development Committee is expected to hear the application by this fall, the APP reported.
