Deutsch To Carr and Wojyn: "Leave Me Alone"

The owner of the Nostalgia Oak Warehouse opens up about his business being a topic of debate between two Englishtown Council members.

At the last Englishtown Borough Council meeting on Monday night, the continued about the Nostalgia Oak Warehouse, a retail business in the borough.

The topic of contention dates back to October of last year, when meeting minutes state that Carr said she had been in contact with a company that was interested in purchasing the Nostalgia Oak Warehouse, which the owner had been attempting to sell. Due to a leak in the roof, Carr said she was looking into tax incentives for roof replacement to help the business get sold.

Wojyn said that Carr had no business making public comments about a local retailer, which he said may hurt that business; Carr is chair of the Business Development Committee and said she is allowed to comment on businesses within the borough. According to Wojyn, Business Development Committee minutes have not been recorded in six years. Carr said that she held a meeting six months ago, at the meeting Monday night.

The owner of the Nostalgia Oak Warehouse, Leo Deutsch, was reached for comment in response to his business being the subject of discussion at Englishtown Council.

"They're both calling me. They're both telling me that one is saying another thing and this one is saying another thing and I told both of them, 'Leave me alone, I have nothing to do with you people. I have nothing to do with council in Englishtown or Manalapan. I'm a retailer in the town. Leave me alone.' I told that to both of them," Deutsch said, in an interview today.

Deutsch confirmed that his name came up because there was a potential buyer on the building and he understood that Carr was looking into a tax abatement for the potential buyer, but he does not understand why his business and his name is still being discussed by the council.

"They have a problem, a vendetta, whatever it is, between them - I have nothing to do with it, and I don't know why my name is even spoken about."

In response to the comment Carr made that Wojyn was harrasing and stalking him, Deutsch said, that "is not true, he never harrassed or was stalking me."

"I'm ready to call my lawyer and sue the whole town," Deutsch said. "I'm really getting tired of both of them."
