Englishtown Approves Bond Ordinance for Center Street Improvements

A portion of the bond ordinance is coming from an NJDOT grant.

The Englishtown Borough Council approved a bond ordinance which will provide funding for the reconstruction of Center Street at their Council meeting last week.

The bond ordinance appropriates $500,000, which includes a New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) grant of $210,000, for the improvement of Center Street in Englishtown. The sum also includes a $25,000 down payment on the proposed improvements.

In order for the Borough to temporarily finance the project, the bond ordinance authorizes the issuance of $265,000 in anticipation of the $500,000 bond.

These funds provided by the bond ordinance will be used for the reconstruction and resurfacing of Center Street as well as roadway excavation, milling, and paving. Additionally, curbs, curb ramps, sidewalks and driveway aprons, drainage work, roadway painting, aesthetic improvements, and landscaping will also be installed or repaired as needed.

This sum also includes payment for the engineering and design work, surveying, construction planning, plan preparations, permits, bid documents, construction inspection and contract administration and all of the work, materials, equipment and labor, according to the bond ordinance.

The bond ordinance stipulates that the period of usefulness for the Center Street improvements is 15 years. It will take effect on March 19.
