Englishtown Names Jan. 14 'Christopher Matlosz Remembrance Day'

The Englishtown Borough Council introduced and adopted a resolution last week naming Jan. 14 “Christopher Matlosz Remembrance Day” in honor of Christopher Matlosz, a former Englishtown Borough Police Officer who was killed in the line of duty in Lakewood two years ago.

Matlosz was a full time police officer for Englishtown between 2004 and 2006, when he left Englishtown to join the Lakewood Police Department. by Jahmell Crockam during a routine traffic stop. Crockam was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison with no parole.

“Christopher Matlosz’s service to the Borough of Englishtown was given with such dedication and devotion that he has earned the respect, admiration and friendship of all the citizens of our community that had the pleasure to know him,” the resolution states.

The resolution officially names Jan. 14 “Christopher Matlosz Remembrance Day” in the Borough of Englishtown. The Borough also recognized Matlosz’s memory in the fall of 2012 by naming a new Borough street Matlosz Court.
