The Englishtown Mayor and Council will be holding a Special Meeting this Thursday, March 15 at the to continue discussing the 2012 municipal budget.

The mayor and council began discussion on the initial proposed budget, , last week. The council would like to reduce the tax increase as much as possible, but the majority of the increases in the budget are mandated by the county or required for the municipality for other reasons.

Changes the mayor and council have control over, however, are increases in police staff and 2 percent raises for all civil employees. During this special meeting the council will review the productivity of the police officers and decide whether hiring more officers will help the district with revenue or hurt it.
