Solar Field ribbon cutting cermony

The Western Monmouth Utilities Authority will have a ribbon cutting ceremony for its newly installed solar filed on June 23rd, 2012 @ 10:00 a.m.  The solar system size is 696.54kW.  The solar system type is a ballasted ground mount which has 2,962 panels.  The system is estimated to produce approximately 967,362 kWh of energy in the first year, which is equivalent to the avoided emissions of 1,470,593 lbs. of CO2.  This is comparable to taking 131 cars off of the road or conserving 74,781 gallons of gasoline annually.

The project was financed thru a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) .  There was no capital outlay by the Authority and now the WMUA will purchase the renewable electricity at discounted rates from the equity investor.  The term of the Power Purchase Agreement is 15 years.
