Manalapan Recreation Gets $25K Award For New Playground

Initial discussions are to put the money towards a new Special Needs playground. What do you think?

The Manalapan Recreation Department has been chosen to receive a $25,000 award towards a new playground in the name of Michael Allen Davidson Foundation, an organization honoring Davidson, who lost his life on September 11, 2001 in the World Trade Center attacks.

The Recreation Advisory Board will be working with the Michael Allen Davidson Foundation in choosing equipment and the placement of the unit in the upcoming weeks, Deputy Mayor Jordan Maskowitz said at the last Township Committee meeting.

The initial thoughts of the Board and the Township Committee are to put the funds toward a Special Needs playground in a new section of the Recreation Center.

TELL US: Do you think this the right way to spend the $25,000 in the Recreation Center? If not, what type of playground would you want? Write your ideas in the comment section below!

The Manalapan Recreation Center is now open full time! The park opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. every night, except Saturdays when it closes at 9 p.m. A 5-kilometer track through the woods has just been refurbished and is open for running and walking.
