Manalapan Residents Cast Vote Despite Sandy

There have been a steady stream of voters in Manalapan, according to election officials.

“It’s been pretty steady,” a Monmouth County Board of Election official said Tuesday afternoon at the Monmouth County Library in reference to the stream of people coming in to cast their vote.

In fact, many Board of Election officials agreed in sentiment, saying that the repercussions of Hurricane Sandy did not deter voters.

No polling location changes were made in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, and even though Manalapan Township is still not fully restored with power it seems residents are getting out of their cold homes to hit the polls.

“There have been a lot of people” another official said, indicating that avalanches of people have come through the doors and then the rooms would clear out for a time.

The Monmouth County Library was the polling location for District 6, 14, 17, and 26.

“It’s always crowded during the general election,” the official said. “There was nobody here during the primary.”
