Report: Mayor Lucas May Receive $1.15M to Preserve Farm

The State Agriculture Development Committee is meeting at 9 a.m. on Thursday to vote on a land deal that may pay Manalapan Mayor Andrew Lucas $1.15 million to conserve his farm.

Manalapan Mayor Andrew Lucas may receive $1.15 million from the State Agriculture Deveolopment Committee, according to a story from the Asbury Park Press.

The SADC will meet on Thursday morning to decide whether or not to provide Lucas with money for the farm he has entered into the Planning Incentive Program, according to the report.

Lucas purchased the farm in question, Burke Farm, in 2010 and quickly enrolled it in the program. The quick turnover and Lucas' refusal to publicize what he paid for the property has ignited negative feedback about the from both the public and .
