New Iron Ore Road Bridge to Open Labor Day Weekend

The Iron Ore Bridge replacement project was delayed this summer due to delayed utility relocations.

The work to replace the Iron Ore Bridge over North Brook will be completed by Labor Day weekend, Monmouth County announced Thursday. Iron Ore Road (Route 527a) will remain closed between Dey Grove Road and Mount Vernon Road while the bridge is being replaced.

The Iron Ore Bridge project, which is being overseen by the County’s Department of Public Works and Engineering, began in April.

“The original project schedule was impacted when utility relocations were delayed and it was not until they were able to accomplish their work that we could continue to work on this project,” Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone said. “The County has worked diligently with the contractor on the project to stay on schedule with the modified completion date.”
