6 Candidates Run for 3 Spots on Manalapan Township Committee

Three Republicans and three Democrats have filed to run in the June primary for seats on the Township Committee.

The Manalapan Township Committee has three positions up for grabs in this upcoming election as Deputy Mayor Jordan Maskowitz and Committeeman Andrew Lucas’ three-year term and Committeeman Jack McNaboe’s one year term expires on Dec. 31.

Lucas has decided not to run for reelection in 2013. Incumbent Maskowitz will be running for reelection on the Republican ticket alongside Maryann Musich for the three-year term.

The Democratic challengers for the full term, who also filed for the June primary,  are Ryan Urgo and David Goldstein. Urgo ran for the Manalapan-Englishtown Board of Education in the November 2012 election and lost by a slim margin.

McNaboe, who was sworn in to the Township Committee after Don Holland resigned last month, is running again for a one-year unexpired term. He filed for the June primary on the Republican ticket. Carmen Roque filed as the Democratic candidate for the one year term. Roque is a senior administrative assistant at Covance.

The primary election is scheduled for June 4. Residents will cast their vote for two candidates for the two open full term seats and vote for one candidate for the single one year term seat.
