Lafayette Mills School March Highlights

Check out the school's highlights from March 2013.

Sweet Treats Dance

On Friday, March 1, 2013 our Sweets and Treats Dance was held. The event was well attended by more than 400 students and parents.

Fossil Dig

A Fossil Dig assembly for the second grade students conducted by John Miller from Pearl Observatory was held on March 5th. Students learned about the different periods in which dinosaurs were present on the earth.

First Grade Registration

First Grade Registration was held on March 6th and 7th at Lafayette Mills. At the time of this writing eighteen students have registered.

Basketball Night

The teachers and the Lafayette Mills School PTA held our annual Basketball Night on Friday, March 1, 2013 at MEMS. The students in grades 1-2 were able to practice skill activities conducted by the MEMS Girls’ Basketball Team and Lafayette Mills teachers; while students in grade 3 engaged in a free-throw contest.   

Thank you to Mrs. Bruno and Ms. Corporale for arranging this cross- school support. Students in grade 4 and 5 played against the teachers in teams of 5 or 6. The custodial staff at MEMS, particularly Mr. Tucsnak, was extremely helpful to the success of this event.

Daylight Savings

The students were asked to remind their parents to change the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on Sunday, March 10, 2013. This is the beginning of Daylight Savings Time.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences were held on March 13, 14 and 15. Day and evening conferences were well attended; both parent and teacher feedback was positive.
