Manalapan-Englishtown Board of Education to Broadcast Meetings

The Manalapan Township Television Network will now record and broadcast the K-8 Board of Education meetings.

The Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District Board of Education has decided to have their meetings televised and broadcasted on the Manalapan Township Television Network (MTTN) for the very first time.

The Manalapan Township Television Network is the township’s municipal access channel which can be viewed on Cablevision Channel 77 and Verizon Fios Channel 42.

Newly elected Board President James Mumolie brought up the idea at the Board’s reorganization meeting last week to a round of applause from the public.

Every Board member was in favor of having meetings televised except for Lori Semel, who said she has always been against the video recording of Board meetings.

In the past, the Board took a vote which prevented the network from freely broadcasting meetings, claiming that it invaded the privacy of parents who come to discuss issues involving their children.

The first event to be recorded by MTTN will be the public hearing on district security being held on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Manalapan-Englishtown Middle School.

If you do not have Cablevision or Fios, you can still watch the meetings that are televised by MTTN by following them on Facebook. The network posts the videos on their Facebook page for viewing over the internet.
